Byroviron (Bryonia Laciniosa)

Bryonia Laciniosa is an Ayurvedic herb used traditionally as an aphrodisiac and pro-fertility compound, touted to increase masculinity and enhance youthfulness during aging.  It works by increasing Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Testosterone. The mechanism of action is hypothesized to be through hypothalamic stimulation, due to the above three hormones all increasing.

Kaempferia parviflora (rhizome) (polymethoxyflavonoids)

Kaempferia Parviflora (Thai Ginseng) is a root plant that is touted to be an aphrodisiac and glucose support agent, with its effects on testosterone and aphrodisia; it may be (slightly) erectogenic by various mechanisms. 

Its main mechanism of action is that it inhibits phosphodiesterase5 (PDE5) which makes it pro-erectile by inducing vascular smooth muscle relaxation, vasodilation and increases blood flow to the penile tissue.

Korean Red Ginseng (Panax Ginseng)

Korean red ginseng is a plant that grows in Asia. It’s sometimes known as Asian ginseng, Chinese ginseng, or Panax ginseng.  Korean red ginseng is linked to increased alertness and could potentially improve erectile dysfunction. 

Research has concluded that red ginseng may be an effective alternative treatment for impotence. The main mechanism of action is that ginseng is associated with enhanced nitric oxide synthesis in the endothelium of the lung, heart, kidney and corpus cavernosum. 

This enhanced nitric oxide synthesis could contribute to the ginseng associated vasodilation and perhaps also to an aphrodisiac action of the root.

Cinnamomum cassia (bark)

Cinnamomum cassia is a type of cinnamon extracted from the bark of an evergreen tree that grows in regions of India. The extract of the Cinnamomum cassia twig is sometimes called cassia cinnamon or Chinese cinnamon.

It has been demonstrated to improve sexual function. It works by enhancing nitric oxide synthase which generates nitric oxide that stimulates soluble guanylyl cyclase to produce cyclic guanosine monophosphate. This second messenger relaxes smooth muscle that is essential for erection.

Epimedium Brevicomum

Epimedium is a genus of flowering plants in the family Berberidaceae. The majority of the species are endemic to China, with smaller numbers elsewhere in Asia, and a few in the Mediterranean region. 

The active ingredient that comes from the extract of the Epimedium plant is icariin. The mechanism of action is that icariin inhibits the activity of the PDE5 that’s blocking dilation of the arteries in the penis. This allows blood to fill the arteries and the three cylinders in the penis and create an erection.

Eurycoma longfolia extract (root)

Eurycoma Longifolia belongs to the plant family of Simaroubaceae with Eurycoma being the family. Four plants belong in this family; Apiculata, Harmandiana, latifolia, and Longifolia where only the last species is used medicinally. 

Eurycoma Longifolia is a pro-fertility agent and aphrodisiac that appears to have a large body of evidence supporting this role and some evidence suggesting it may be an anti-estrogen and pro-erectile agent. 

In addition to the aphrodisiac effects, Eurycoma can also increase sperm production and may directly act as a pro-erectile agent. At least one molecule in Eurycoma (9-hydroxycanthin-6-one) is associated with both a delay in ejaculation as well as pro-erectile properties.

Sodium Caprate

Capric acid is present in minute amounts in human milk and in plant oils like coconut and seed oils. Because of its presence in food, sodium caprate is approved by the FDA as a direct food additive for human consumption.

The mechanism of action is by enhancing absorption kinetics of other ingredients/molecules through the intestinal membrane by increasing permeability through both the paracellular and transcellular routes.

Yohimbine HCl

Yohimbe is an herbal supplement. It has a long history of use in West African traditional medicine to improve sexual performance. The supplement is derived from the bark of an evergreen tree found in western and central Africa called the Pausinystalia johimbe. 

Many believe that yohimbine works by blocking receptors in the body called alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. These receptors play an important role in inhibiting erections.
